The right wedding dress should make a bride look and feel stunning, but finding the perfect gown for your starring role can be taxing.
Wedding Gowns come in four basic shape/styles:
1. The Ball Gown Silhouette wedding dress has a line that hits at
the hips elongates the torso and emphasized the waistline.
2. The Empire Silhouette wedding gown has a break beneath the bust
line and draws the eyes upward, away from the bride’s hips.
3. A Princess Silhouette wedding dress has an A-line
cut that emphasizes the torso.
4. A Sheath Silhouette wedding dress closely hugs the body’s
natural curves and is great for those brides with a stunning figure.
Smart Tips to Buying the Perfect Wedding
Dress
• Be sure to try on one of each of the 4 basic dress styles
to find the one that is most flattering to your figure.
• If you want to custom order a dress it can take anywhere
from a few months to a year to arrive. Starting six- months to a
year in advance allows time for your wedding dress to be altered
to your exact measurements.
• Before you hit the stores do research, look though bridal
magazines or websites for styles you like and decide on a budget
that you will stick to.
• Renting a wedding gown or purchasing one of the rack will
usually save you a lot of money.
• The most important thing to consider is the fit of the dress.
You can always add beading or lace to a dress or remove it, but
you cannot change the essential cut of a wedding dress.
• Keep an open mind a wedding dress can look dramatically
different on a you than on the rack.
• When trying on Wedding dresses, if you
know what underclothing and shoes you will be wearing on your Wedding
Day bring them to the store.
• When trying on Wedding dresses bring your
mother, sister or a trusted best friend who will give you an honest
opinion.
• Negotiate, “ It’s your money, so act like it.”
one of the many great tips in the must read book “Fire
Your Wedding Planner” by Stephi Stewart, she advises asking
vendors if they’re flexible on prices.
• Comparison shop. Wedding dresses can vary
a lot, thanks to the Internet you don’t have to shop only
at local merchants.
• Look for sample sales; sometimes designers put their samples
on sale at deep discounts.
• Try eBay. On a recent morning $4,000 dresses were listed
starting at $1. Register with eBay to get alerts when a dress that
meets your requirements is listed.
• After the wedding get back some of that wedding money by
selling your used wedding dress.
• It is a good idea when leaving a deposit for a Wedding Gown that you use a Credit Card, if for some reason the deal goes south you can dispute a credit charge.
